SHEET P-03 — RESEARCH TOOLS
Every category of tool a serious options trader ends up needing — charting, fundamentals, estimates, earnings, macro, news, AI research and sentiment — organized by what each is actually for, with our evaluation criteria published in the open.
Some partner links are affiliate links. GiottoO may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Sponsored placements are always labeled. Partner compensation never influences trade scores or research outputs.
Educational research only. Not financial advice.
What's inside
Charting
Price action, volume profiles, multi-timeframe analysis and drawing tools. The foundation layer — everything else annotates what price is already doing.
Fundamentals
Financial statements, ratios, ownership and filings history. For options traders, fundamentals set the slow-moving backdrop that vol trades against.
Analyst estimates
Consensus revenue and EPS estimates, revision trends and price-target dispersion. Revisions often matter more than the level.
Earnings data
Earnings calendars, historical beat rates, implied vs realized post-earnings moves. Essential for anyone trading premium around events.
Macro data
Rates, inflation, employment, energy and central-bank calendars. Macro sets the vol regime that individual-name strategies live inside.
News terminals
Aggregated, ticker-tagged, timestamped headlines. Speed matters less than tagging quality — a fast feed you cannot filter is noise.
AI research
LLM-assisted summarization, screening and thesis drafting. Powerful for coverage breadth; every output still needs a human check against primary sources.
Sentiment
Social and retail positioning indicators. Best used as a contrarian context layer — crowding is information, crowd direction is not a strategy.
How we evaluate tools
Data quality
Where does the data actually come from, and how often is it wrong? We check source attribution, revision handling, and whether corporate actions (splits, dividends, symbol changes) are handled cleanly.
Latency
Real-time, 15-minute delayed, or end-of-day — and is the tool honest about which? A delayed feed labeled clearly is fine. A delayed feed dressed up as live is disqualifying.
Coverage
Universe breadth (US-only vs global), asset classes, options chain depth, and historical lookback. A beautiful interface over three years of daily bars is a demo, not a research tool.
Price honesty
Transparent pricing pages, no dark-pattern trials, no surprise per-seat or per-query fees. We flag tools whose real cost only appears after signup.
How sponsored listings work here
SponsoredSome tools in this directory pay for placement or pay us a referral commission. When they do, the listing carries a visible Sponsored badge — exactly like the one above. Sponsorship buys position on the page. It does not buy a better evaluation: the four criteria above are applied identically to paid and unpaid listings, and a sponsor that fails them gets removed, not softened.
